What are chaosnomads?

chaosnomads are magickians who travel as part of their magickal practice. Some travel very rarely, maybe only during yearly vacations. Some make a point of living in various places for periods of time then move on to another environment. Some live "on the road". In all cases, they seem to agree that staying in one place long-term fosters a sort of stagnation, not only in mental, psychological, and emotional states, but also in their magickal practices.

What is 'chaosnomads'?

chaosnomads is this page - this little spot on the Internet - where chaosnomads can meet and support one another. On this page you will not only find a list of chaosnomads, but also a list of people and places that have offered lodging for chaosnomads. This lodging could be short-term or long-term. It could including food and outings, or it could just be a spot in someone's backyard in which to unroll a bedroll.

How does 'chaosnomads' work?

It's simple. If you are a chaosnomad, send us your full legal name, your magickal (or nick) name, your preferred area of travel (anything from a specific city to the entire planet), the lowest level of lodging you require (choose one: primitive, simple outdoors, simple indoors, bedroom, or luxury; add, if needed: with food, willing to work, willing to pay, short-term, medium-term, long-term), a paragraph about yourself and your interests, and your e-mail address.

If you are a host offering lodging, send us your full legal name, your magickal (or nick) name, your location (just a city name is fine), the level of lodging you are offering (choose one: primitive, simple outdoors, simple indoors, bedroom, or luxury; add, if needed: with food, with work, short-term, medium-term, long-term), a paragraph about yourself and your interests, and your e-mail address. Your city will be marked on a map and shown on this page as a general indicator of your location and the number of hosts available in the network.

Once you have added yourself to one of the two lists, you will receive copies of both lists, plus receive updates when they are made. This will allow chaosnomads to contact potential hosts, and allow hosts to contact either chaosnomads travelling in their area or, if they themselves travel, hosts for their own lodging during their trips.

Now for the rules and legal mumbo-jumbo... Legal names are required. This is a security precaution, and they will not be placed on the list(s) unless you specifically request it; your magickal (or nick) name will be used instead. Your legal name will be kept and given to law enforcement authorities in the event of a reported crime. A host is free to refuse lodging to anyone, for any reason, at any time. A chaosnomad should have no expectations of quality or quantity of lodging. No guarantees are given. Nothing is implied. It is the responsibility of the hosts and the chaosnomads to look after their own safety. These lists are copyrighted and can not be transferred to another person.
